Dr. Jean Claude Scicluna, MD MSc  professional work away from clinic spans research, policy and innovation within medicinal cannabis and tech. As Medical Consultant for the Maltese Government’s Authority for the Responsible Use of Cannabis, he contributed to the development and implementation of Europe’s first legal medicinal cannabis framework and represented Malta at the International Narcotics Control Board plenaries in Vienna. A prescriber of medicinal cannabis since 2019, he integrates innovative practice with a patient-centred approach to care.

Dr. Scicluna’s research interests focus on cannabinoids and chronic pain. His work on fibromyalgia has been published in Xjenza, Malta’s national science journal, as part of a special issue featuring leading local researchers. He is one of 3 cofounders of Unlock.Healthcare, a digital clinic platform based in EU and LATAM.

He is currently based in Auckland where he directs medical education & business development at Helius Therapeutics.
