Federica Pellati is an Associate Professor in Medicinal Chemistry at the Department of Life Sciences of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia in Italy, where she is the Principal Investigator of the research group “Natural Products for Medicinal Chemistry”.
Her research is dedicated to the study of bioactive natural compounds as ew leads in medicinal chemistry. Her interest is focused on the extraction and analysis of molecules from Cannabis sativa L., and on the investigation of their biological activity against hyper-proliferative disorders and central nervous system (CNS) diseases. She has many
international and national research projects and collaborations.
She is the author of more than 120 papers in international scientific journals (h-index = 44 from Scopus), 2 patents and more than 100 congress communications. In 2022, she has been awarded with the ElSohly Award by CANN-ACS for her research on cannabis and cannabinoids. In 2025, she has received the University of Bern Prize for Best Oral Presentation in Basic Research in the cannabis field and the Innovator in Medicinal Chemistry and Personalized Therapy Award, released by the PROTEOMASS Scientific Society.
She is an editorial board member for many international peer-reviewed Journals in the areas of medicinal chemistry and pharmaceutical analysis. She is the President of the single-cycle master’s degree Course in Pharmacy and the Departmental delegate for international relations.
