Dr. Callie Seaman, PhD

Dr. Callie Seaman is a plant scientist and formulation chemist with over 20 years of experience in the hydroponic industry. She has collaborated with licensed cannabis producers in the UK and internationally as a director and researcher, optimizing and setting up research programs focused on secondary metabolite production in cannabis. Dr. Seaman holds a degree in biomedical sciences, during which she worked at GlaxoSmithKline in the drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics department. She then earned a PhD in Fertilizer Chemistry from Sheffield Hallam University while founding a liquid fertilizer manufacturing company, where she formulated and marketed a complete range of products. She went on to undertake a post doctorate position at Sheffield Hallam for 12 months before embarking on industry full time. Recently, Dr. Seaman established Sunnyside Consultancy, her own cannabis consultancy firm that guides new businesses through the complexities of the cannabis sector. She currently serves as the Chief Plant Sciences and Innovation Officer at Evolve Health, a biotechnology company focused on female health and led by women.

In addition, Dr. Seaman has been appointed Co-Chair of the Cannabis Industry Council, where she works closely with the UK sector and government to promote regulation and necessary changes. As a passionate advocate for cannabis education, she regularly speaks at universities and conferences for Drug Science and has published work in peer-reviewed journals. Having being diagnosed with epilepsy at the age of 15 and discovering how cannabis based medicines has helped control her seizures she had found her calling. She supports patients on their cannabis prescription journey through her roles as director of the MedCan Family Foundation and advisory board member of patient groups.
